When you wash your car, you want to make sure you get it right. Riding around with water streaks all over your car, only to have to wash it again, is not ideal. If you don’t know how to clean your vehicle’s exterior on your own, use this guide to get you started.
Before you Wash it, Do This
Before you get started, make sure you have a towel, specialized automotive soap, a bucket of water, and a plush wash mitt. Never use dish detergent. It will do more harm than good. Park your vehicle in the shade, and set the hose on a firm spray setting. Hose off any loose dirt and debris.
Washing your Car
Grab your wash mitt and start washing your vehicle from the top down, rinsing frequently, so the soap doesn’t dry. Then give it an overall rinse and wipe off all excess moisture with a soft, clean towel, making sure to get rid of water spots.
