Do you ever drive at night, and by the time you get where you're going you feel tired, and grumpy?
It might be more than just physical exhaustion, says Ford.
The automaker just began implementing new LED headlights, called Crystal Diamond Light, on select new vehicles, including the GT pictured above, and the Ford F-150.
These lights glow at the same temperature as sunlight, 5,600 Kelvin. Traditional halogen headlights, by comparison, shine at 3,200 Kelvin. Ford thinks that having headlights which produce light the same color as the sun at noon is not only good for visual acuity, it may even make drivers happier and more alert.
While to our knowledge, no study has tested this theory in cars, multiple studies have shown low-light conditions to adversely affect productivity and mood in the work environment. People exposed to brighter light tended to argue with each other less.
